Aluminum for Ultrasonic Sensor ApplicationsAluminum:
Aluminum is an alternative metal option to stainless steel for chemical processing. Both have generally good chemical and corrosion resistance. Compared to stainless steel, Aluminum costs less as it is easier to machine and weld. Aluminum also has the extraordinary strength to weight ratio. It may not be as strong as stainless steel however it only weighs a fraction because of its lighter density. However still, for long pipes stainless steel may be referred to as the extra strength minimizes pipe flex. For food and beverage applications, stainless steel may still be a better option as it is more inert and less likely to react; whereas food is more likely to react with aluminum where it can affect the color and or flavor.
